Visitor Profiling

For over 15 years, Longwoods International has been recognized as a leading tourism research consultancy, working with destinations of all sizes, CVBs, attractions, lodging and transportation providers on four continents.

Our work in this field has included visitor estimates, visitor profiling, image and branding, and advertising accountability research.

With regards to Vistor Profiling, Longwoods studies have assisted our clients in understanding who their customer is today, and how to most profitably grow their market in the future.

Overnight Visitor Research:

Our Longwoods Travel USAź syndicated study surveys 200,000 American households annually, 50,000 each quarter.  Longwoods began this program with the 1994 travel year.

We probe visitors to your destination with custom-tailored, follow-through research, utilizing Travel USAź to collect the most comprehensive data in the industry on specific trips to your destination.

Segmentation

There are many possible approaches to segmentation, including demographics, psychographics and trip purpose.  Longwoods International has designed and conducted leading-edge segmentation research on travel and many other product categories since 1978.  The Longwoods occasion-based trip type segmentation model has been employed since 1985 to assist our many international clients in successfully targeting meaningful categories of pleasure travel.

Day Visitor Research

The Travel USAź program focuses mainly on overnight trips, however for many destinations, day trippers are equally important to the economic vitality of the destination.  For day trip studies, we have found that the best possible approach is to select a representative sample of the regional market to survey, deploying a similar methodology with appropriate modifications to the survey instrument.
